Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.46% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which rose 1.68% or 0.98 points to trade at 59.42 at the close. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 0.58% or 0.14 points to end at 24.16 and Sofina (BR:SOF) was up 0.47% or 0.60 points to 127.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB), which lost 2.06% or 1.89 points to trade at 89.70 in late trade. Umicore SA (BR:UMI) declined 1.83% or 0.70 points to end at 37.46 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) shed 1.46% or 2.10 points to 141.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 71 to 44 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.39% or 4.94 to $1279.14 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $56.74 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.54% or 0.34 to trade at $63.18 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.1660, while EUR/GBP rose 0.68% to 0.8902.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 94.46.
