Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR), which rose 1.94% or 0.85 points to trade at 44.65 at the close. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 1.93% or 0.47 points to end at 24.50 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was up 1.80% or 0.70 points to 39.97 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which lost 3.47% or 4.55 points to trade at 126.70 in late trade. Ageas (BR:AGES) declined 1.92% or 0.795 points to end at 40.505 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) shed 1.86% or 0.53 points to 28.01.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 54 to 53 and 13 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.81% or 10.35 to $1286.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.72% or 0.41 to hit $57.61 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.02% or 0.65 to trade at $64.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.04% to 1.1592, while EUR/GBP rose 0.55% to 0.8849.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 94.78.
