Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 1.63% or 1.370 points to trade at 85.380 at the close. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) added 0.83% or 0.125 points to end at 15.275 and KBC (BR:KBC) was up 0.66% or 0.460 points to 70.500 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which lost 2.15% or 1.00 points to trade at 45.43 in late trade. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) declined 1.60% or 0.67 points to end at 40.93 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) shed 1.45% or 0.21 points to 14.61.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 57 to 54 and 12 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.46% or 6.08 to $1326.62 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.56% or 0.75 to hit $48.98 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.14% or 0.62 to trade at $54.89 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.61% to 1.1893, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.9001.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.56% at 92.40.
