Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which rose 1.91% or 0.49 points to trade at 26.38 at the close. Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) added 1.37% or 0.60 points to end at 44.62 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 0.79% or 0.50 points to 64.09 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which lost 1.67% or 0.58 points to trade at 34.24 in late trade. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 1.64% or 0.70 points to end at 42.10 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) shed 1.43% or 0.83 points to 57.21.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 63 to 54 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.83% or 10.60 to $1267.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.45% or 0.26 to hit $57.73 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.80% or 0.50 to trade at $62.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.37% to 1.1822, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.8791.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 93.31.
