Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Telecoms and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which rose 3.09% or 1.13 points to trade at 37.66 at the close. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 2.64% or 0.34 points to end at 13.20 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) was up 2.54% or 0.52 points to 20.96 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Argen-X (BR:ARGX), which lost 0.55% or 0.40 points to trade at 72.50 in late trade. Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB) declined 0.47% or 0.42 points to end at 89.64 and UCB (BR:UCB) shed 0.42% or 0.28 points to 66.84.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 69 to 39 and 22 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.42% or 5.30 to $1258.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.28% or 0.95 to hit $73.19 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.23% or 0.18 to trade at $78.06 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1696, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.8845.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 94.09.
