Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Financials, Food Producers and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 2.70% or 2.340 points to trade at 88.900 at the close. Argen-X (BR:ARGX) added 2.67% or 2.10 points to end at 80.70 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) was up 2.28% or 0.23 points to 10.08 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which lost 2.44% or 0.63 points to trade at 25.21 in late trade. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) declined 1.29% or 0.24 points to end at 18.41 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) shed 0.45% or 0.06 points to 12.09.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 68 to 38 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.36% or 4.40 to $1223.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 6.68% or 3.65 to hit $50.98 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 5.97% or 3.74 to trade at $58.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.59% to 1.1336, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8844.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 96.812.
