Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Technology and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 0.98% or 0.750 points to trade at 77.270 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) added 0.94% or 0.54 points to end at 57.89 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) was up 0.90% or 0.27 points to 29.61 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB), which lost 4.27% or 6.30 points to trade at 141.20 in late trade. Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) declined 2.75% or 1.32 points to end at 46.67 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) shed 0.69% or 0.28 points to 40.04.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 61 to 46 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.71% or 9.33 to $1323.43 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.63% or 1.21 to hit $47.17 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 3.55% or 1.80 to trade at $52.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.1876, while EUR/GBP rose 0.22% to 0.9214.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 92.84.
