Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 4.04% or 3.020 points to trade at 77.840 at the close. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) added 1.86% or 2.15 points to end at 117.75 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) was up 1.61% or 0.65 points to 41.02 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI), which lost 3.09% or 2.56 points to trade at 80.16 in late trade. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) declined 1.79% or 0.38 points to end at 20.90 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) shed 1.59% or 0.74 points to 45.94.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 69 to 44 and 12 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.02% or 0.30 to $1306.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.37% or 0.25 to hit $67.50 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.01% or 0.01 to trade at $73.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.28% to 1.1960, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8795.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 92.49.
