Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Utilities and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.15% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 3.69% or 2.27 points to trade at 63.72 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 0.79% or 0.670 points to end at 85.370 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) was up 0.78% or 0.23 points to 29.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which lost 1.90% or 0.75 points to trade at 38.95 in late trade. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) declined 0.62% or 0.37 points to end at 59.63 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) shed 0.54% or 0.70 points to 130.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 60 to 52 and 14 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.07% or 13.54 to $1282.74 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.50% or 1.39 to hit $57.03 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.75% or 1.71 to trade at $63.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.01% to 1.1606, while EUR/GBP fell 0.59% to 0.8825.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 94.69.
