Azure Minerals Ltd (ASX:AZS, OTC:AZRMF) continues to intersect broad zones of high-grade lithium mineralisation at the Andover Project in Western Australia’s West Pilbara region, a joint venture between Azure (60%) and Creasy Group (40%).
The Andover pegmatite swarm extends over an area of nine kilometres (east-west) and up to five kilometres (north-south) and comprises hundreds of outcropping pegmatites with many containing high lithium grades identified from extensive surface sampling.
To date, 55 diamond core holes, including 7 RC pre-collar/diamond core tails, have been completed for 20,525 metres and 86 RC holes have been completed for 17,238 metres.
Target (NYSE:TGT) area 1
Assays from recent drilling of target area 1, which hosts the AP0011 pegmatite, include the intersection of the highest grade mineralisation over more than 100 metres at the project to date — 104.7 metres grading 1.61% lithium oxide.
Azure also intersected 132.3 metres at 1.25% lithium oxide which demonstrates the strong continuity of the mineralisation; along with other intersections including 101 metres at 1.22% lithium oxide and 55.4 metres at 1.75% lithium oxide.
The new assay results expand the extensive lithium mineralisation within the AP011 pegmatite both down-dip and along strike. Infill drilling also continues to demonstrate the strong internal continuity of the mineralisation, with tightened drill spacing pushing the AP0011 mineralisation towards JORC mineral resource standard.
One RC rig and three diamond rigs are drilling in target area 1 with a combination of exploration and infill resource delineation drilling continuing to grow and define AP0011.
Target area 2
Drilling has also commenced at target area 2, which hosts the AP0015, AP0016 and AP0017 pegmatites. Azure today reported assay results from the first two drill holes at the AP0015 pegmatite. Both holes intersected high-grade lithium mineralisation of 6.0 metres grading 1.99% lithium oxide and 6.4 metres at 1.16%.
While drilling is continuing, this strong mineralisation from the first two holes demonstrates the high potential for the pegmatite to host significant lithium mineralisation.
Two diamond rigs are drilling the pegmatites at Target Area 2.
Target area 3
Azure intends also to begin drilling target area 3 within the next week. All approvals are now received and clearing of tracks and drill pads in target area 3 is underway.
Initial pre-drilling groundwork undertaken in late-2022 and early-2023 defined the pegmatites within target area 3 as some of the highest-ranked lithium targets at Andover.
