March 5 (Reuters) - Australia shares were likely to open lower on Friday following a sharp slide on Wall Street overnight after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's comments did not ease concerns around rising bond yields.
The local share price index futures YAPcm1 fell 0.3%, a 17-point discount to the underlying S&P/ASX 200 index .AXJO close. The benchmark fell 0.8% on Thursday.
New Zealand's benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index .NZ50 was roughly flat by 2124 GMT.
