Investing.com - The S&P/ASX 200 added 42.00 points or 0.59% to 7,181.30 during Tuesday’s trading session, recouping losses of 0.2% yesterday as advances were led by the Energy, Materials and Information Technology sectors.
Among stocks, Santos Ltd (ASX:STO) gained 2.2%, Woodside Energy Ltd (ASX:WDS) lifted 2.9%, Beach Energy (ASX:BPT) Ltd (ASX:BPT) gained 0.9% and Viva Energy Group Ltd (ASX:VEA) lifted 0.6%.
Materials gained 1.2% overall, with Rio Tinto Ltd (ASX:RIO) (ASX:RIO) up 1%, BHP (ASX:BHP) Group Ltd (ASX:BHP) adding 1.2%, Fortescue (ASX:FMG) Metals Group Ltd (ASX:FMG) down 0.1% and Champion Iron Ltd (ASX:CIA) finishing 0.5% higher.
Coal miners were also in the spotlight amid higher spot prices, with New Hope Corporation Ltd (ASX:NHC) and Whitehaven Coal (ASX:WHC) Ltd (ASX:WHC) up 7.3% and 7.8% respectively.
On the bond markets, Australia 10-Year rates were at 3.605% while United States 10-Year yields were at 3.823%.
In New Zealand, the NZX 50 was down 0.2% to 11,420.4.
