Aurumin Ltd (ASX:AUN) has hit a broad intersection of high-grade gold at the Plum Pudding deposit within the Sandstone Gold Project in Western Australia and several promising intersections from exploration drilling across new targets.
The company’s drilling campaign was designed to test seven new open pit targets and extend two existing pit resources, with success at four of the new targets and a bonanza gold hit at Plum Pudding of 18 metres at 25.8 g/t gold from 30 metres including 2 metres at 215.2 g/t from 43 metres.
Toward operational restart
“These are great results from a first-pass exploration drilling program,” Aurumin managing director Brad Valiukas said.
“We achieved significant results at four out of seven targets; these were based on a combination of previous geochemical results and structural interpretation.
“Additionally, we got a bonanza result with extensional drilling at Plum Pudding, with a top assay of 344 g/t and an unexpected void, likely old workings.
“Plum Pudding is now a priority target for additional work so we can expand our, currently modest, 14,000-ounce resource.
“We are focused on the Central Sandstone Project and generating the critical mass required for future production and these results are a great step towards adding the required additional open pit material to support an operational restart.”
The company says this latest drilling program demonstrated an excellent success rate for new target selection and is already planning follow-up drilling.
Highlight assays
The company notes that it has collected and submitted 1-metre samples (correlating to 4-metre composite samples that returned positive results) for further assay.
Highly assays from the latest round of drilling include:
Plum Pudding extensional - 18 metres at 25.8 g/t gold from 30 metres (with 2 metres of unexpected void), including 2 metres at 215.2 g/t from 43 metres and 7 metres at 1.48 g/t from 71 metres.
Two Mile Hill West (new target) - 32 metres at 0.99 g/t from 68 metres, including 4 metres at 4.28 g/t from 76 metres (composite sample).
Old Town Trend (new target) - 11 metres at 2.00 g/t 28 metres including 4 metres at 2.97 g/t from 32 metres.
Mt Klempt (new target) - 9 metres at 1.25 g/t from 16 metres.
