Investing.com - The S&P/ASX 200 fell 78.87 points or 1.1% to 7,352.2 during Wednesday’s session as investors monitored hotter than expected U.S. inflation numbers overnight, while financials retreated after commonwealth bank reported earnings results.
Among stocks, Macquarie Group Ltd (ASX:MQG) fell 0.4%, ANZ Group Holdings Ltd (ASX:ANZ) lost 3.8%, Commonwealth Bank Of Australia (ASX:CBA) dipped 5.7%, National Australia Bank Ltd (ASX:NAB) lost 4.1 and Westpac Banking Corp (ASX:WBC) fell 4.2%.
Consumer Staples were also 1.4% lower as Treasury Wine Estates Ltd (ASX:TWE) fell 6.9% after reporting earnings results that fell below analyst's expectations. Woolworths Ltd (ASX:WOW) lost 0.8%, Elders Ltd (ASX:ELD) dipped 1.7% and Endeavour Group Ltd (ASX:EDV) fell 1.1%.
On the bond markets, Australia 10-Year rates were at 3.749%.
In New Zealand, the NZX 50 finished 0.1% higher at 12,083.1.
