Investing.com - The S&P/ASX 200 fell 11.50 points or 0.16% to 6,986.80 during Wednesday’s trade, partially reversing gains of 0.5% in the previous session, while closing out the month with modest gains of 0.6% amid robust local earnings results.
Among stocks, Energy led declines, finishing 2.9% lower as Woodside Energy Ltd (ASX:WDS) fell 3.4%, Santos Ltd (ASX:STO) lost 2.4%, Beach Energy Ltd (ASX:BPT) fell 2.9%, Viva Energy Group Ltd (ASX:VEA) lost 2.2% and South32 Ltd (ASX:S32) lost 1.1%.
S&P/ASX 200 Materials were down 1.4% collectively, with Rio Tinto Ltd (ASX:RIO) down 1.1%, BHP Group Ltd (ASX:BHP) falling 2.8% and Fortescue Metals Group Ltd (ASX:FMG) down 2.8%.
Information Technology finished 1.7% higher, with Block Inc (ASX:SQ2) up 3.9%, Appen Ltd (ASX:APX) adding 0.5%, Megaport Ltd (ASX:MP1) lifting 5.2%, Novonix Ltd (ASX:NVX) adding 3.9% and Brainchip Holdings Ltd (ASX:BRN) up 3.3%.
On the bond markets, Australia 10-Year rates were at 3.612% while United States 10-Year yields were at 3.101%.
In New Zealand, the NZX 50 fell 0.4% to 11,601.1.
