Spain stocks higher at close of trade; IBEX 35 up 1.46%

Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Building & Construction sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 1.46%.

The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 7.59% or 0.253 points to trade at 3.585 at the close. Meanwhile, Obrascon Huarte Lain (MC:OHL) added 5.84% or 0.255 points to end at 4.621 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) was up 5.25% or 0.405 points to 8.120 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE), which fell 2.06% or 0.620 points to trade at 29.550 at the close. Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) declined 1.69% or 0.330 points to end at 19.200 and Gamesa (MC:GAM) was down 1.06% or 0.160 points to 14.860.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 135 to 83 and 2 ended unchanged.

Gold for February delivery was up 1.28% or 14.20 to $1119.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 5.77% or 1.75 to hit $32.09 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 5.78% or 1.81 to trade at $33.12 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.0840, while EUR/GBP fell 0.82% to 0.7552.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 99.21.
