Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Semiconductor and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were JSL Construction & Development Co Ltd (TW:2540), which rose 9.98% or 2.75 points to trade at 30.30 at the close. Powertech Industrial Co Ltd (TW:3296) added 9.97% or 1.95 points to end at 21.50 and Jui Li Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1512) was up 9.92% or 1.25 points to 13.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348), which lost 9.89% or 3.95 points to trade at 36.00 in late trade. Genesis Photonics Inc (TW:3383) declined 6.32% or 0.18 points to end at 2.67 and Universal Microelectronics Co Ltd (TW:2413) shed 4.18% or 0.55 points to 12.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 386 to 361 and 132 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.81% or 0.35 to $43.73 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.87% or 0.40 to hit $46.44 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.41% or 5.13 to trade at $1251.53 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.07% to 30.350, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2253.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 97.01.
