Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Information Technology, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals and Footwear & Textile sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.77% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were PC House PLC (CM:PCHO), which rose 50.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.300 at the close. Meanwhile, Equity Two PLC (CM:ETWO) added 13.66% or 8.40 points to end at 69.90 and Serendib Hotels PLC (CM:SHOT) was up 13.39% or 4.90 points to 41.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND), which fell 17.69% or 303.00 points to trade at 1410.00 at the close. SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) declined 8.33% or 0.10 points to end at 1.20 and Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL) was down 8.33% or 0.100 points to 1.200.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 182 to 67 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in Serendib Hotels PLC (CM:SHOT) rose to all time highs; gaining 13.39% or 4.90 to 41.50.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.71% or 0.33 to $46.06 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.94% or 0.47 to hit $50.46 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.50% or 5.50 to trade at $1085.20 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.67% to 209.625, while USD/LKR rose 0.92% to 134.685.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 98.20.
