Anson Resources Ltd (ASX:ASN, OTCQB:ANSNF) has passed a major milestone at its Green River Lithium Project, commissioning the Green River Sample Demonstration Plant (SDP) on the company’s property in Utah, US, and producing the first lithium carbonate product.
ASN produced the product from raw brine sourced from its flagship Paradox Lithium Project, using an existing flowsheet, in preparation to receive raw brine from the Green River Boysdaba #1 well for suitability test work to optimise the existing processing flow sheet.
Anson intends to run the SDP continuously for six months, producing lithium chloride and converting it into battery-grade lithium carbonate, while making ongoing improvements to the process and product in real-time, accelerating the testing period.
Samples will then be provided to potential offtake Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) partners, including electric vehicle and lithium-ion battery manufacturers.
Meeting US Federal Government objectives
“The successful commissioning of the Sample Demonstration plant on our own property at Green River will allow us to optimise the Direct Lithium Extraction flow sheet that was developed during the definitive feasibility study (DFS) by using brine samples as close as possible to those that will exist in a full-scale production,” Anson Resources executive chair and CEO Bruce Richardson said.
“This includes temperature, pressure and mineral grades including lithium. The data that will be collected will be used to further refine the flow sheet, delivering more accurate recovery rates, rejection rates which will provide further confidence to investors, off-takers, and end-users.
“This is yet another significant step forward in the development of the Green River Lithium Project.
“Anson is fully aware of the national security objective of developing a lithium supply chain in the USA and is working at a rapid pace in Green River to assist in meeting this Federal Government objective.”
