Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) Web Services (AWS), the cloud unit of Amazon (AMZN), said it plans to invest €7.8 billion ($8.4 billion) in Germany by 2040 to build a cloud computing infrastructure specifically for Europe.
The company intends to launch several data centers in the German state of Brandenburg by the end of 2025, which will be available to all customers, an initiative expected to support an average of 2,800 full-time jobs in local German businesses each year.
AWS recently announced it would assist Telefonica Germany in migrating one million 5G customers to its cloud platform starting later this month.
Last year, the cloud giant revealed its plans to store data on servers within the European Union to improve data privacy for government and customers in highly regulated industries.
