Alto Metals Ltd (ASX:AME) has identified a promising gold anomaly at Sandstone North prospect within the Sandstone Gold Project in Western Australia with soil sampling highlighting a 1-kilometre-long target.
Four areas within the coherent anomaly returned gold of up to 100 parts per billion (0.1 g/t gold) at four different areas within the 1-kilometre zone, with the strongest gold-in-soil response correlating with anomalous pathfinder arsenic values.
The combination of several prospectivity indicators, coupled with historical drilling results of up to 15 metres at 9.1 g/t gold from 82 metres with a high-grade component of 3 metres at 32.1 g/t from 94 metres of depth, make for a promising exploration target at Sandstone North.
Drilling to follow within weeks
“Our Sandstone North gold target is shaping up nicely, with these latest infill soil results highlighting a strong north-south trending gold anomaly that is coherent with arsenic values and correlates perfectly with a major north-south interpreted structure,” Alto Metals managing director Matthew Bowles said.
“Given the structural setting and high-grade gold results reported in historical drilling to the south, this soils program has defined a compelling target that we anticipate testing with an initial low-cost aircore drilling program in the coming weeks.”
Alto says its infill soil sampling program successfully refined the strongest gold response along the original 6-kilometre-long gold trend identified in a broader-spaced, regional soil sampling program, having combined soil results, and historical drilling and geophysical data to pinpoint the most promising target area.
The mineralisation at Sandstone North remains open along strike and down plunge, with the majority of the total 6-kilometre trend still untested by drilling.
Alto believes Sandstone North mirrors Gold Fields’ Agnew Gold Mine, and more specifically the Waroonga deposit, based on the mineralisation style and geological setting.
The company is already preparing to conduct first-pass aircore drilling at Sandstone North, following up historical drilling results that included:
- 15 metres at 9.1 g/t gold from 82 metres including 3 metres at 32.1 g/t from 94 metres;
- 13 metres at 5.2 g/t from 34 metres including 1-metre at 58.0 g/t from 39 metres;
- 15 metres at 5.4 g/t from 24 metres including 5 metres at 10.8 g/t from 30 metres;
- 23 metres at 2.0 g/t from 101 metres including 2 metres at 11.3 g/t from 104 metres; and
- 6 metres at 5.8 g/t from 11 metres including 1-metre at 29.5 g/t from 13 metres.
