July 5 (Reuters) - Australia and Las Vegas Aces centre Liz Cambage is expected to miss the 2020 Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) season, Aces General Manager Dan Padover said in a statement https://aces.wnba.com/news/aces-center-liz-cambage-expected-to-miss-2020-wnba-season.
The Aces did not specify why Cambage would miss out but the 28-year-old's agent Allison Galer told the Associated Press that the decision was due to underlying medical conditions that could put her at greater risk from COVID-19.
Galer was not immediately available for comment.
The WNBA is set to begin its 2020 season in late July amid the novel coronavirus pandemic with games to be played without fans present at a single site in Florida.
"Liz is a generational talent, and we are going to miss her this year on the court and in the locker room," Padover said in a statement late on Saturday.
"Although Liz won't be with us in Florida, she has our full support, and will continue to be a part of the Aces family and the city of Las Vegas for many years to come."
