Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumption, Industrials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which rose 4.23% or 0.84 points to trade at 20.68 at the close. ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) added 3.83% or 0.15 points to end at 4.07 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) was up 3.28% or 0.360 points to 11.320 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3), which lost 5.33% or 0.90 points to trade at 15.98 in late trade. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) declined 5.26% or 0.38 points to end at 6.85 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) shed 4.58% or 1.46 points to 30.39.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 161 to 115 and 30 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.16% to 42.77.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 1.95% or 24.35 to $1227.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.18% or 1.05 to hit $49.13 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 0.37% or 0.45 to trade at $121.88 .
USD/BRL was up 0.01% to 3.5732, while EUR/BRL fell 0.69% to 3.9815.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.38% at 95.59.
