Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Insurance and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB), which rose 5.00% or 5.00 points to trade at 105.00 at the close. Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) added 4.99% or 1.40 points to end at 29.45 and Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN) was up 4.91% or 0.27 points to 5.77 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG), which lost 6.50% or 0.41 points to trade at 5.75 in late trade. Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) declined 4.59% or 0.19 points to end at 3.95 and Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) shed 4.16% or 0.68 points to 15.68.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 20 to 14 and 42 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $40.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.94% or 0.39 to hit $41.15 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 1.08% or 13.60 to trade at $1251.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.38% to 224.600, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 199.150.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.31% at 95.06.
