Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Biotech & Medical Care, Trading & Consumer Goods and Chemical/Bio & Medical care sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.85% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Cyberpower (TW:3617), which rose 9.96% or 9.60 points to trade at 106.00 at the close. Bionime (TW:4737) added 9.89% or 4.60 points to end at 51.10 and Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906) was up 9.87% or 1.55 points to 17.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Candmark (TW:5259), which lost 9.76% or 0.16 points to trade at 1.48 in late trade. Chateau (TW:2722) declined 5.10% or 2.25 points to end at 41.85 and Tainan Cayman (TW:5906) shed 4.57% or 0.09 points to 1.88.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 519 to 225 and 109 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.26% or 0.13 to $49.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.44% or 0.22 to hit $49.73 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.95% or 11.55 to trade at $1205.15 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.40% to 32.654, while TWD/CNY rose 0.30% to 0.2015.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 95.88.
