Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Utilities and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 0.21%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr), which rose 6.43% or 0.045 points to trade at 0.745 at the close. Meanwhile, Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr) added 6.28% or 0.06 points to end at 0.98 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) was up 5.47% or 0.04 points to 0.68 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Euro Reliance (AT:EREr), which fell 10.00% or 0.15 points to trade at 1.35 at the close. Elval (AT:VAL) declined 8.05% or 0.12 points to end at 1.37 and J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) was down 7.55% or 0.024 points to 0.294.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 48 to 38 and 8 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.86% or 9.30 to $1074.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 4.85% or 1.94 to hit $38.03 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 4.06% or 1.75 to trade at $41.26 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.29% to 1.0849, while EUR/GBP rose 0.11% to 0.7202.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.37% at 98.64.
