Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Travel and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite lost 1.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Frigoglass (AT:FRIr), which rose 13.00% or 0.04 points to trade at 0.34 at the close. Euroconsultants SA (AT:ERCr) added 4.49% or 0.0700 points to end at 1.6300 and ThesKi Water (AT:TWSr) was up 4.28% or 0.13 points to 3.17 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Halcor (AT:XAKO), which lost 5.74% or 0.014 points to trade at 0.230 in late trade. Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr) declined 4.59% or 0.005 points to end at 0.104 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) shed 4.17% or 0.01 points to 0.23.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 52 to 32 and 13 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.51% or 6.30 to $1223.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 4.35% or 1.56 to hit $37.45 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 3.72% or 1.41 to trade at $39.28 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.1378, while EUR/GBP rose 0.35% to 0.8067.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 94.67.
