Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Power & Energy and Motors sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.35%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC (CM:ASPH), which rose 13.08% or 39.90 points to trade at 345.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Vidullanka PLC (CM:VLL) added 11.70% or 1.10 points to end at 10.50 and Singhe Hospitals Ltd (CM:SIGH) was up 10.00% or 0.20 points to 2.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL), which fell 12.50% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.800 at the close. PC Pharma PLC (CM:PCPH) declined 9.09% or 0.10 points to end at 1.00 and SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) was down 9.09% or 0.10 points to 1.10.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 124 to 81 and 18 ended unchanged.
Shares in Vidullanka PLC (CM:VLL) rose to all time highs; gaining 11.70% or 1.10 to 10.50. Shares in Singhe Hospitals Ltd (CM:SIGH) rose to all time lows; gaining 10.00% or 0.20 to 2.00.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 2.12% or 1.10 to $51.09 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.87% or 1.09 to hit $57.06 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.22% or 2.50 to trade at $1152.90 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.35% to 208.640, while USD/LKR rose 0.83% to 134.755.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 96.82.
