Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Semiconductor and Optoelectronic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.22%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Star Comgistic (TW:4930), which rose 10.00% or 1.40 points to trade at 15.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Alpha Networks (TW:3380) added 9.96% or 1.20 points to end at 13.25 and Compucase (TW:3032) was up 9.94% or 1.55 points to 17.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Aoc (TW:6289), which fell 5.00% or 0.05 points to trade at 0.95 at the close. U-Tech (TW:3050) declined 4.56% or 0.38 points to end at 7.95 and Zong Tai (TW:3056) was down 3.67% or 0.55 points to 14.45.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 542 to 295 and 3 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.24% or 0.10 to $44.05 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.63% or 0.30 to hit $47.28 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.28% or 3.10 to trade at $1105.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.61% to 32.570, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.1975.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 95.94.
