Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Healthcare and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which rose 2.48% or 1.00 points to trade at 41.50 at the close. Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) added 1.31% or 0.68 points to end at 52.47 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 1.12% or 0.17 points to 14.89 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KBC (BR:KBC), which lost 1.91% or 0.840 points to trade at 43.165 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:ING) declined 0.96% or 0.093 points to end at 9.546 and Ageas (BR:AGES) shed 0.92% or 0.285 points to 30.560.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 75 to 65 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.66% or 8.85 to $1344.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 4.02% or 1.88 to hit $44.92 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 4.17% or 2.02 to trade at $46.45 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.38% to 1.1103, while EUR/GBP rose 0.91% to 0.8427.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.36% at 96.20.
