Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Construction & Materials, Financials and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.43%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI), which rose 0.99% or 1.10 points to trade at 112.55 at the close. Meanwhile, UCB (BR:UCB) added 0.90% or 0.73 points to end at 81.48 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) was up 0.83% or 0.25 points to 30.53 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were KBC (BR:KBC), which fell 2.89% or 1.530 points to trade at 51.500 at the close. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) declined 2.00% or 1.57 points to end at 76.89 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was down 1.70% or 0.24 points to 14.18.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 79 to 37 and 44 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.97% or 10.60 to $1106.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 4.85% or 1.56 to hit $30.63 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 3.65% or 1.20 to trade at $31.64 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.30% to 1.0829, while EUR/GBP rose 0.50% to 0.7607.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 99.49.
