Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Oil & Gas Producers and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.18%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN), which rose 2.55% or 1.00 points to trade at 40.39 at the close. Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) added 2.41% or 2.45 points to end at 104.00 and L`Oreal SA (PA:OREP) was up 2.23% or 3.45 points to 158.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Technip (PA:TECF), which lost 3.27% or 1.65 points to trade at 48.60 in late trade. Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) declined 2.67% or 0.94 points to end at 34.24 and Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) shed 2.28% or 5.65 points to 242.00.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ingenico Group (PA:INGC) which rose 5.13% to 99.94, Remy Cointreau (PA:RCOP) which was up 3.53% to settle at 66.56 and Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) which gained 2.87% to close at 26.850.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 6.29% to 6.00 in late trade, Maurel Et Prom (PA:MAUP) which lost 5.69% to settle at 3.15 and GTT (PA:GTT) which was down 4.23% to 28.78 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 331 to 327 and 107 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.40% to 20.56.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 1.95% or 24.40 to $1224.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 3.23% or 1.34 to hit $40.11 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.54% or 1.06 to trade at $40.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.32% to 1.1181, while EUR/GBP rose 0.39% to 0.7926.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.43% at 96.08.
