Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Consumer Services and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Sonae (LS:YSO), which rose 4.60% or 0.0290 points to trade at 0.6590 at the close. Semapa (LS:SEM) added 1.79% or 0.1850 points to end at 10.5400 and REN (LS:RENE) was up 1.22% or 0.0320 points to 2.6470 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which lost 8.14% or 0.0140 points to trade at 0.1580 in late trade. Montepio (LS:MPIO) declined 4.37% or 0.022 points to end at 0.482 and EDP (LS:EDP) shed 1.12% or 0.0330 points to 2.9250.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 26 to 22 and 3 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for September delivery was down 0.49% or 0.23 to $46.73 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.89% or 0.41 to hit $45.53 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.32% or 4.25 to trade at $1333.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.54% to 1.1016, while EUR/GBP rose 0.55% to 0.8400.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.55% at 97.09.
