Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 lost 12.18% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Italcementi (MI:ITAI), which fell 0.66% or 0.070 points to trade at 10.480 at the close. Luxottica Group (MI:LUX) fell 3.33% or 1.56 points to end at 45.30 and Campari (MI:CPRI) was down 4.27% or 0.37 points to 8.29 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MI:EMII), which lost 24.61% or 1.140 points to trade at 3.492 in late trade. Banca Popolare Milano (MI:PMII) declined 24.28% or 0.1219 points to end at 0.3801 and Unicredit (MI:CRDI) shed 23.79% or 0.6480 points to 2.0760.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 405 to 20 and 9 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 4.75% or 2.38 to $47.73 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 4.79% or 2.44 to hit $48.47 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 4.48% or 56.55 to trade at $1319.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 2.28% to 1.1123, while EUR/GBP rose 6.56% to 0.8153.
The US Dollar Index was up 2.38% at 95.55.
