Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Transport, Textile and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (T:9107), which rose 2.79% or 7.0 points to trade at 258.0 at the close. Meanwhile, SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings Inc. (T:9412) added 2.75% or 17.0 points to end at 636.0 and Toshiba Corp. (T:6502) was up 2.35% or 6.7 points to 292.3 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nisshinbo Holdings Inc. (T:3105), which fell 5.84% or 91.0 points to trade at 1468.0 at the close. Sharp Corp. (T:6753) declined 5.71% or 8.0 points to end at 132.0 and Sumitomo Osaka Cement Co., Ltd. (T:5232) was down 3.83% or 19.0 points to 477.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1171 to 702 and 1 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.21% to 20.83.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 1.55% or 0.67 to $42.38 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.94% or 0.43 to hit $45.19 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.25% or 2.70 to trade at $1067.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.18% to 122.36, while EUR/JPY rose 0.04% to 130.11.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 99.72.
