Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Financials and Basic Resources sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 2.71%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Alpha Bank (AT:ACBr), which rose 28.30% or 0.030 points to trade at 0.136 at the close. Meanwhile, Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) added 25.00% or 0.005 points to end at 0.025 and Bank Of Piraeus (AT:BOPr) was up 22.86% or 0.016 points to 0.086 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lykos Inform. (AT:LYKr), which fell 9.90% or 0.06 points to trade at 0.54 at the close. Iaso (AT:IASr) declined 9.83% or 0.059 points to end at 0.541 and Hygeia (AT:HYGr) was down 3.70% or 0.005 points to 0.135.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 72 to 24 and 3 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.48% or 5.70 to $1185.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.14% or 1.00 to hit $45.64 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.50% or 0.74 to trade at $48.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.64% to 1.1400, while EUR/GBP fell 0.59% to 0.7369.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.41% at 94.37.
