Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Biotech & Medical Care, Cement and Hotels sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Ji-Haw Indu (TW:3011), which rose 10.00% or 0.74 points to trade at 8.14 at the close. Jenn Feng (TW:1538) added 10.00% or 0.58 points to end at 6.38 and Taisun (TW:1218) was up 10.00% or 1.30 points to 14.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aoc (TW:6289), which lost 7.81% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.18 in late trade. Chinese Mariti (TW:2612) declined 6.99% or 2.00 points to end at 26.60 and Billion (TW:3027) shed 5.80% or 0.85 points to 13.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 422 to 339 and 90 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.52% or 0.20 to $38.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.71% or 0.29 to hit $40.78 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.77% or 9.70 to trade at $1247.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.42% to 32.912, while TWD/CNY fell 0.15% to 0.1985.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.17% at 97.36.
