Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Construction and Plantation sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI lost 1.52% to hit a new 3-years low.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were KLCC Property Holdings Bhd (KL:KLCC), which rose 0.14% or 0.01 points to trade at 6.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB) fell 1.41% or 0.07 points to end at 4.90 and Petronas Dagangan Bhd (KL:PETR) was up 0.20% or 0.04 points to 20.06 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Axiata Group Bhd (KL:AXIA), which fell 1.38% or 0.08 points to trade at 5.73 at the close. DiGi.Com Bhd (KL:DSOM) declined 2.38% or 0.12 points to end at 4.93 and IOI Corporation Bhd (KL:IOIB) was down 1.75% or 0.07 points to 3.94.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 521 to 83 and 22 ended unchanged.
Shares in Axiata Group Bhd (KL:AXIA) fell to 52-week lows; down 1.38% or 0.08 to 5.73. Shares in Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB) fell to 3-years lows; losing 1.41% or 0.07 to 4.90. Shares in DiGi.Com Bhd (KL:DSOM) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.38% or 0.12 to 4.93. Shares in IOI Corporation Bhd (KL:IOIB) fell to 52-week lows; falling 1.75% or 0.07 to 3.94.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.30% or 0.56 to $42.55 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.67% or 0.33 to hit $48.86 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.33% or 3.70 to trade at $1116.40 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.80% to 2.9158, while USD/MYR rose 0.96% to 4.1080.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 96.68.
