Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which rose 1.59% or 0.62 points to trade at 40.00 at the close. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) added 0.62% or 0.18 points to end at 29.25 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was up 0.60% or 0.32 points to 53.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Delhaize Group (BR:DELB), which lost 2.00% or 1.92 points to trade at 94.23 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:ING) declined 1.88% or 0.215 points to end at 11.195 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) shed 1.12% or 0.33 points to 29.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 90 to 59 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.08% or 0.95 to $1217.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.99% or 0.49 to hit $49.82 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.48% or 0.24 to trade at $50.60 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.01% to 1.1140, while EUR/GBP rose 0.85% to 0.7674.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 95.74.
