Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms, Beverage and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.95%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL), which rose 6.89% or 0.33 points to trade at 5.06 at the close. Meanwhile, bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 0.57% or 0.12 points to end at 22.04 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was down 0.06% or 0.025 points to 42.655 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which fell 2.09% or 0.62 points to trade at 29.03 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 1.69% or 1.37 points to end at 79.71 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was down 1.62% or 2.15 points to 130.80.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 93 to 64 and 5 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was up 1.35% or 14.40 to $1079.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.47% or 0.53 to hit $35.53 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.99% or 0.73 to trade at $36.15 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.50% to 1.0920, while EUR/GBP rose 0.53% to 0.7333.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 98.42.
