Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Investment Trust, Footwear & Textile and Palm Oil sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.19% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC (CM:ASPH), which rose 22.54% or 69.90 points to trade at 380.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Serendib Engineering Group PLC (CM:IDL) added 17.65% or 1.20 points to end at 8.00 and Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL) was up 16.67% or 0.100 points to 0.700 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lanka Ventures PLC (CM:LVEN), which fell 10.26% or 4.30 points to trade at 37.60 at the close. Dunamis Capital PLC (CM:CSEC) declined 9.79% or 2.30 points to end at 21.20 and Nuwara Eliya Hotels Co PLC (CM:NEH) was down 8.74% or 120.20 points to 1255.10.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 98 to 91 and 45 ended unchanged.
Shares in Dunamis Capital PLC (CM:CSEC) fell to 52-week lows; down 9.79% or 2.30 to 21.20.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 2.59% or 0.80 to $31.45 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 2.17% or 0.75 to hit $35.25 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.48% or 5.80 to trade at $1205.60 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.05% to 206.110, while USD/LKR rose 0.10% to 144.290.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 96.83.
