Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.82%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL), which rose 0.97% or 0.05 points to trade at 5.62 at the close. Meanwhile, Relx NV (AS:RELN) added 0.95% or 0.145 points to end at 15.425 and KPN Kon (AS:KPN) was up 0.79% or 0.027 points to 3.455 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which fell 5.21% or 0.22 points to trade at 3.98 at the close. Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) declined 2.77% or 0.59 points to end at 20.88 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) was down 1.44% or 0.90 points to 61.54.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 120 to 56 and 4 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 9.13% to 22.57.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 3.41% or 1.30 to $36.80 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 2.68% or 1.01 to hit $36.88 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.61% or 6.60 to trade at $1069.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.0976, while EUR/GBP rose 0.38% to 0.7376.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 97.95.
