Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Food Producers, Utilities and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.51%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Elia (BRU:ELI), which rose 2.66% or 0.970 points to trade at 37.410 at the close. Meanwhile, Ageas (BRU:AGES) added 1.59% or 0.560 points to end at 35.875 and DIeteren SA (BRU:IETB) was up 1.40% or 0.450 points to 32.700 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ackermans V.Haaren (BRU:ACKB), which fell 1.38% or 1.80 points to trade at 128.80 at the close. Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BRU:COLR) declined 0.75% or 0.32 points to end at 42.53 and Befimmo-Sicafi (BRU:BEFBb) was down 0.34% or 0.190 points to 55.150.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 96 to 71 and 7 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.89% or 10.00 to $1132.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 6.46% or 2.75 to hit $45.31 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 5.83% or 2.77 to trade at $50.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.58% to 1.1180, while EUR/GBP fell 0.38% to 0.7272.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.46% at 96.18.
