Investing.com – Singapore stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Basic Materials and Real Estate Holdings & Development sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Singapore, the Singapore Straits Time declined 1.78%.
The best performers of the session on the Singapore Straits Time were Thai Beverage Public Co Ltd (SIN:TBEV), which rose 0.66% or 0.005 points to trade at 0.765 at the close. Meanwhile, Jardine Cycle & Carriage Ltd (SIN:JCYC) added 0.57% or 0.17 points to end at 30.05 and Singapore Press Hldgs Ltd (SIN:SPRM) was up 0.25% or 0.01 points to 4.07 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hongkong Land Holdings Limited (SIN:HKLD), which fell 4.70% or 0.38 points to trade at 7.70 at the close. Jardine Matheson Hldgs Ltd (SIN:JARD) declined 4.24% or 2.35 points to end at 53.10 and Capitaland Limited (SIN:CATL) was down 3.97% or 0.14 points to 3.39.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Singapore Stock Exchange by 383 to 86 and 37 ended unchanged.
Shares in Jardine Matheson Hldgs Ltd (SIN:JARD) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.24% or 2.35 to 53.10.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.84% or 0.44 to $52.77 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.10% or 0.62 to hit $57.48 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1153.20 a troy ounce.
USD/SGD was up 0.02% to 1.3543, while EUR/SGD rose 0.28% to 1.4952.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 96.61.
