Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Construction & Materials and Food & Drug Retailers sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.33% to hit a new 3-years low.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (L:GLEN), which rose 2.25% or 1.6500 points to trade at 75.1500 at the close. Meanwhile, Compass Group PLC (L:CPG) added 1.96% or 22.00 points to end at 1143.00 and ARM Holdings PLC (L:ARM) was up 1.72% or 16.00 points to 949.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sports Direct International PLC (L:SPD), which fell 4.74% or 19.400 points to trade at 390.000 at the close. Weir Group PLC (L:WEIR) declined 2.47% or 21.00 points to end at 830.50 and Pearson PLC (L:PSON) was down 2.33% or 16.50 points to 692.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1710 to 534 and 335 ended unchanged.

Gold for February delivery was down 0.12% or 1.30 to $1089.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.92% or 0.28 to hit $30.11 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.43% or 0.12 to trade at $28.82 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.10% to 1.4271, while EUR/GBP fell 0.38% to 0.7629.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 99.16.
