Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Finance & Investment, Insurance and Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 1.44%, while the ADX General index lost 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which rose 1.70% or 0.008 points to trade at 0.470 at the close. Meanwhile, Dubai Islamic Bank (DU:DISB) added 0.91% or 0.060 points to end at 6.660 and Emaar Malls Group (DU:EMAA) was up 0.74% or 0.02 points to 2.73 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which fell 9.37% or 0.150 points to trade at 1.450 at the close. Dubai National Insurance (DU:DNIN) declined 8.07% or 0.230 points to end at 2.620 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) was down 6.99% or 0.040 points to 0.532.
The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Natl Energy (AD:TAQA) which rose 7.84% to 0.550, Finance House (AD:FH) which was up 6.79% to settle at 2.99 and Natl Bk Of Rak (AD:RAKB) which gained 3.56% to close at 6.99.
The worst performers were Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which was down 10.00% to 0.90 in late trade, Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which lost 10.00% to settle at 3.15 and Green Crs Ins (AD:GCIC) which was down 8.93% to 0.510 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 22 to 5 and 1 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 13 fell and 9 advanced, while 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in Dubai National Insurance (DU:DNIN) fell to 52-week lows; losing 8.07% or 0.230 to 2.620. Shares in Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) fell to 52-week lows; down 10.00% or 0.10 to 0.90. Shares in Green Crs Ins (AD:GCIC) fell to 52-week lows; losing 8.93% or 0.050 to 0.510.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.34% or 0.14 to $39.45 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.52% or 0.23 to hit $43.44 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.65% or 7.40 to trade at $1130.90 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED fell 0.83% to 4.1959.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.72% at 94.59.
