Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Insurance, Consumer Staples and Real Estate & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General added 1.46%, while the ADX General index gained 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA), which rose 6.99% or 0.033 points to trade at 0.505 at the close. Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) added 5.13% or 0.100 points to end at 2.050 and Union Properties PJSC (DU:UPRO) was up 2.90% or 0.020 points to 0.710 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which lost 2.99% or 0.016 points to trade at 0.519 in late trade. SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) declined 1.78% or 0.012 points to end at 0.662 and National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) shed 0.72% or 0.010 points to 1.380.
The top performers on the ADX General were Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which rose 7.14% to 0.9000, Abu Dhabi National Hotels Co (AD:ADNH) which was up 5.26% to settle at 3.00 and Gulf Pharm Ind (AD:GPHI) which gained 4.09% to close at 2.290.
The worst performers were Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) which was down 9.79% to 1.750 in late trade, Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) which lost 4.13% to settle at 2.090 and Natl Bk Of Rak (AD:RAKB) which was down 2.99% to 5.20 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 22 to 6 and 6 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 16 rose and 9 declined, while 4 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.87% or 0.43 to $50.12 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.09% or 0.55 to hit $51.10 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.29% or 3.65 to trade at $1243.75 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED fell 0.05% to 4.1704.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 93.90.
