Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Chemicals, Media and Energy sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 declined 0.46% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN), which rose 3.42% or 2.25 points to trade at 67.95 at the close. Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER) added 2.68% or 1.36 points to end at 52.15 and Gornictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA (WA:PGN) was up 1.96% or 0.10 points to 5.19 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP), which lost 5.55% or 4.59 points to trade at 78.09 in late trade. Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP) declined 4.07% or 1.85 points to end at 43.65 and Bank Polska Kasa Opieki SA (WA:PEO) shed 3.04% or 4.69 points to 149.78.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 254 to 236 and 168 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 2.89% or 1.29 to $45.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 3.45% or 1.57 to hit $47.09 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.80% or 10.15 to trade at $1274.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.20% to 4.4255, while USD/PLN fell 0.40% to 3.8696.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.53% at 93.72.
