Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Oil & Gas Producers and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.21%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 5.08% or 0.218 points to trade at 4.513 at the close. Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) added 3.29% or 2.80 points to end at 87.82 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) was up 1.82% or 2.45 points to 136.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP), which lost 2.76% or 1.35 points to trade at 47.51 in late trade. Technip (PA:TECF) declined 1.97% or 0.97 points to end at 48.50 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) shed 1.60% or 0.69 points to 42.34.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Rubis (PA:RUBF) which rose 5.97% to 72.02, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which was up 5.08% to settle at 4.513 and Zodiac Aerospace (PA:ZODC) which gained 4.03% to close at 21.93.
The worst performers were CGG (PA:GEPH) which was down 2.99% to 0.6500 in late trade, BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) which lost 2.76% to settle at 47.51 and Eutelsat Communications (PA:ETL) which was down 2.65% to 16.75 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 373 to 303 and 93 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.23% to 21.28.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.02% or 0.25 to $1214.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.45% or 0.22 to hit $49.23 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.84% or 0.42 to trade at $50.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.29% to 1.1157, while EUR/GBP fell 0.36% to 0.7735.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 95.49.
