Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Computers & Peripherals, Other Electronic and Semiconductor sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 1.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418), which rose 10.00% or 0.50 points to trade at 5.50 at the close. Meanwhile, X-Legend (TW:4994) added 9.91% or 6.40 points to end at 71.00 and Shuttle (TW:2405) was up 9.89% or 0.72 points to 8.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tainan Cayman (TW:5906), which fell 7.96% or 0.18 points to trade at 2.08 at the close. Yoko Tech (TW:6131) declined 7.21% or 0.62 points to end at 7.98 and Farglory (TW:5522) was down 5.24% or 1.70 points to 30.75.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 534 to 311 and 1 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 3.88% or 1.15 to $30.68 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 3.34% or 0.99 to hit $30.60 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1098.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.74% to 33.580, while TWD/CNY fell 0.41% to 0.1937.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 99.35.
